JE. What part of Complete Proteins is so hard for you to understand. If it doesn't have every amino acid in equal proportion, then it is objectively inferior to animal proteins.
And Fish or lean meat cuts can easily exceed 30%, no question. Which is the point.

Do it yourself.
You'll notice that aside from your occasional soy entry, or protein powder, (and Sea Cucumber, should keep that in mind) the list is 95% dead animal.
That's probably because various dead animals are sources of protein.

...And your list includes mostly endangered game or rare domesticated animals, spurious entries, and a strange aversion to chinese foods. Just because a block of food has more water in it doesn't make the protein not there... You just have to drink the water to make up for it, which is what your sorting does.
Look at every meat item on your list and you'll find that with that protein comes a red flag for sodium or cholesterol or somesuch.
It doesn't really prove my point, but it does prove you can't read past the first scan.

PS: A sea cucumber is an animal.

Crissa, stop being Tzor. You've been more and more like him of late. It's annoying.
My list includes:
A duck that is 20% protein by mass and 80% water.
A turkey that is 30% protein by mass and 70% water.
Cod is 63% protein by mass, 2% fat and 35% water.
No one said anything about fucking cholesterol or sodium, because that's not even remotely relevant to the discussion. The fact is, that in order to build muscle, I need complete proteins. And the fact that fish provides that better than any odd vegetable mix means I'm going to eat it.
Then you post a retardedly stupid "low on calories but high on protein" search, which is dumb as shit because you want more calories from protein.
If something has 0% fat and Carbohydrate, then definitionally every calorie comes from protein, and you want as many calories as possible.
The fact that everything on your list is like one or two grams of protein per 100 grams:
1) Makes it all worthless.
2) Is the logical outcome of searching for foods that have the fewest calories of protein possible.
Then you bullshit about water weight. Let me try to spell this out for you.
In an average day, I need about 200 grams of protein. If I did this by eating your example foods, that means, not counting actual water (which I just wouldn't drink) or other foods. Just the Protein would require me to drink 19800 grams of water with my protein. Converted into gallons that's over 5 a day.
5 gallons of water is going to flush everything of importance, and fuck me up. I'm not going to do it. There is no reason to eat 63 servings of Squash a day to match one piece of Cod.

the ridiculous state that Canada is in about Cannabis is retarded, and in the US it's doubly retarded, I mean, holy shit, the 1st two copies of Declaration of Independence were printed on hemp paper.
the fact that in it's natural fibres make clothing that will last the rest of your life is probably why we don't use, and use cheaper, breakable cotton instead.
the fact that you can manufacture stuff with other materials means that people won't use it to make anything from cellophane to explosives, plastics or paper.
oh, and hemp paper is archival grade paper, the shit won't yellow, age, crack or rot as easily as wood pulp paper would.
we could seriously save forests by using hemp paper.
this stuff is just so crazy.
Blame our Hemp and pot policies on Harper bending to the wishes of the US Drug War. I may have voted for the guy, but this stuff is bullshit as it stands.
Honestly, I'd be buying shitloads of hemp clothing if it was affordable. I often work construction, so I find my jeans usually fall apart within 6-8 months of use. I'd be willing to bet that hemp wouldn't break down so fast. Then again, the quality of the piece matters. Whatever.

You're an idiot, Kaelik.
You want 40% of your daily caloric intake as protein? What food even allows that? I'm sure you have a perfect meat out there, one that doesn't kill you to eat that much of it.

Really? You eat meat? Cool, so do I. I love it, preferably steak, and barely cooked. Crissa eats meat too. So do most of the people on these boards.
That doesn't mean that the diet we eat should get all of its protien from meat.
As for eating fish... it's not really a good idea. Fish is good, and good for you, but a lot of it is full of built-up amounts of stuff that you should not be consuming. Fish today are thought to be eating more plastic than plankton, and if you eat fish on a daily basis in some parts of the world, your mercury levels will get so high that your doctor will tell you to stop eating fish (NGS; an article about the various toxins our bodies intake; the author seemed to have very high levels of fire retardant in his blood stream; he's an NGS writer, and was flying a lot in one year, Airline companies spray their seats with fire retardant; he ate fish from the California, to see if there was mercury in there, turns out there was, and it showed up in one of the myriad tests he had taken).
The results of that high protien, low fat, low carbs food search gave... soy as having 3 spots in the top 6; the other 3 being beef sauce, a coffee and..... ground up bones (gelatin). The soy is probably healthier than eating up ground up bones.
I'm not really Bill Cosby, so eating jello everyday would probably make me ill. I'm guessing that Cosby probably doesn't eat the stuff all the time, and probably never did eat a lot of it; he was just a very enthusiastic spokesman for ground up bones, sugar and fruit flavour. I honestly don't think that anyone here would advocate eating jello every day as their source of protein.
That would make for an interesting villan though. Sort of a la Battle Angel Alita's Desty Nova, and his weakness for flan (and knowing what flan is, who can blame him).
You get... a ghoul, and they eat gelatin. Just gelatin. Maybe with lime, or oranges, or other tasty fruit in it; but it's always gelatin.

The issue is not "all." It's what is the best source of complete proteins for me when building and maintaining muscle. And the answer is: Dead animals. It's not the same dead animals every time, and sometimes it's aborted animal fetuses, but it's animals on a pretty constant basis.Judging__Eagle wrote:That doesn't mean that the diet we eat should get all of its protien from meat.
Well: A) it's the same thing made by three different companies.Judging__Eagle wrote:The results of that high protien, low fat, low carbs food search gave... soy as having 3 spots in the top 6; the other 3 being beef sauce, a coffee and..... ground up bones (gelatin). b) Soy has unhealthy amounts of estrogen for me to be eating it on a daily basis. As an occasional thing, it's fine, but replacing all my meat with it would be quite unfortunate.

Oh, I wouldn't recommend eating soy exclusively, I know I wouldn't do it, I'd crave a burger or chop after a while. Human bodies aren't well suited for very rigid diets.
Also, our current sources of meat could be a lot better.
About the mostly/only eating dead animals, it's a matter of kitchening. You're doing it with meat, I've seen people do it without meat at all. The fittest person that I know has been a strict vegetarian for about 5 years now; seeds, nuts, soy, whole grains and hemp hearts are how they gets most of their protein. It's not any specific thing that they rely on, and they use a wide range of foods in their diet; eggs and dairy make a very small part of their diet.
Also... how do you know that your meat isn't being pumped full of estrogen?
I know that at one point in time in the US, that chickens were being given hormones to promote muscle growth. I'm sure that that hasn't stopped, and probably that cows are given hormones to increase their size; testosterone is probably avoided since it will make cows more aggressive, and their meat tougher. However, estrogen is still probably being used.
Seriously, the meat you eat could be giving you bitch-tits. As much as mammaries are wonderful things, I think we can all agree that males shouldn't have them unwanted... on the other hand, it would have made life easier for a certain Norseman.

How are you defining "fit?" Because I certainly don't consider this to be an average definition of fit. I'll probably end dead at 60 from some crazy muscle/heart explosion.Judging__Eagle wrote:The fittest person that I know
Most of the food I eat is tested for estrogen levels, amongst other things I don't think the use of such transfers over. So I'm personally not too worried about that. Most of the "health risk" or "animal cruelty" stuff isn't conducive to good meat for athletic diets anyway.Judging__Eagle wrote:I know that at one point in time in the US, that chickens were being given hormones to promote muscle growth.

You mean soy protein isolate? Somehow, those words, placed next to each other tell me that its not the soy you normally eat.Judging__Eagle wrote: The results of that high protien, low fat, low carbs food search gave... soy as having 3 spots in the top 6; the other 3 being beef sauce, a coffee and..... ground up bones (gelatin). Yeah, Kobajagrande, it probably isn't.
Then again, I don't eat seal, and I doubt anyone here does, or even ever has eaten seal.
The person in question can run kilometers without stopping, power lifts, and gets a good amount of their 'cardio' from Bas Ruten's so-called 'warmups'. They're also a big fan of the Crossfit method of working out; Weights + Cardio.
About the only thing that they've got on me, is that they do the fighting-geared workouts, and cross-fit. I tend to stick to just strength/mass building exercise, and focus my cardio when it fits my schedule, like going for a walk, or taking the 11 stories of stairs down to the ground floor, or when I go hiking for 8-20 hours in a weekend every few weeks year-round.
We probably burn the same calories, but they focus more on intensity in their cardio, so they get more out of it. I honestly don't find Bas Ruten's workouts to be enjoyable enough to do them.

Here are some impossible-to-find, prohibitively expensive sources of complete proteins:
Beans on toast
Corn and beans
Hummus and pita bread
Nut butter on whole grain bread
Pasta with beans
Rice and beans, peas, or lentils
Split pea soup with whole grain or seeded crackers or bread
Tortillas with refried beans
Veggie burgers on bread

That's not the problem; the thing is that it isn't actual soy you normally eat. Its a protein which has been extracted from it and turned into some protein powder or whatever. Thing like that contains 80+ percent of protein? Well, duh.Judging__Eagle wrote:Yeah, Kobajagrande, it probably isn't.

It doesn't matter if the next thing on the list is seal, or even styrophoam. The point is that that isolate is not a realistic representation of actual soy protein count.
